Spring 2026 Buying Tips: What to Look For
The market has moved fast this year. Before you drop $1,000+, keep these 2026 standards in mind:
- The “AI PC” Standard: If you’re buying a Windows machine, aim for a Copilot+ certified laptop (Snapdragon X Elite Gen 2, Intel Core Ultra Series 3, or Ryzen AI 400). Even if you don’t use AI tools today, these chips are much more efficient for battery life.
- RTX 50-Series is King: For gamers, the RTX 5060 is the new sweet spot for 1440p gaming. If you see a deal on an older RTX 4070, make sure it’s significantly cheaper (at least $300 less) to justify the older architecture.
- OLED is the Baseline: In 2026, you shouldn’t be paying premium prices for “IPS Glow.” Most mid-range deals now feature 120Hz OLED panels. Don’t settle for less unless you’re on a super-tight budget.
- RAM is Non-Negotiable: With the way Windows 11 and MacOS handle background tasks now, 16GB is the absolute bare minimum. Try to find deals on 24GB or 32GB if you plan to keep the laptop for 4+ years.
